What are we expecting?

The Bureau of Meteorology advises a moist and unstable airmass is situated across most of New South Wales, ahead of a trough and cold front set to cross through the state during the day. Isolated severe thunderstorms have developed ahead of this trough and are moving rapidly to the east and southeast. Severe storms are likely to continue throughout the afternoon and reach eastern parts of the state.

Severe thunderstorms are likely to produce damaging winds and heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding in the warning area over the next several hours.

The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 6:05 pm, a severe thunderstorm likely to produce damaging winds was detected near Calga and Brooklyn. This thunderstorm is moving towards the southeast. It is forecast to affect Gosford, Wyong and Woy Woy by 6:35 pm and waters off The Entrance by 7:05 pm.

This event may change quickly. NSW SES will monitor the situation and update warnings if the situation changes.
