Monitor conditions
NSW SES advises people in the following area(s) to MONITOR CONDITIONS for forecast damaging winds, Blizzards:
- Mount Ginini
- Thredbo
- Tidbinbilla
- Perisher Valley
A 104 km/h wind gust was observed at Cabramurra at 10:49 pm Wednesday.
Winds averaging 93 km/h with a gust of 128 km/h were observed at Thredbo around 9:43 pm Wednesday.

What are we expecting?
The Bureau of Meteorology advises a vigorous northwesterly flow is expected to continue over southeast New South Wales during Thursday as another cold front approaches.
For ALPINE AREAS above 1900 metres: DAMAGING WINDS averaging 80 to 90 km/h are expected at times during Thursday.
For the SNOWY MOUNTAINS and BRINDABELLAS above 1200 metres: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of 90 to 100 km/h are expected during Thursday.
For the SNOWY MOUNTAINS above 1400 metres: BLIZZARD conditions are possible during the day, becoming likely Thursday evening.
Winds and blizzard conditions are expected to ease during Friday morning.
Severe weather is no longer occurring in the Southern Tablelands district and the warning for this district is CANCELLED
This event may change quickly. NSW SES will monitor the situation and update warnings if the situation changes.
What you need to do:
- Avoid unnecessary travel, move indoors, bring children and pets with you.
- Park your car under secure cover and away from trees, powerlines and drains.
- If safe to do so, secure or put away items, such as outdoor furniture, trampolines and roofing iron that could blow around in strong winds.
- Grab your emergency kit in case you lose power or need to leave your home.
- Ensure snow chains are carried in alpine areas.
- NPWS advise against back country travel.
- Monitor warnings issued by NSW SES on their website, HazardWatch and Facebook pages, the Hazards Near Me mobile app, local radio or television, and by following the latest weather information from the Bureau of Meteorology online.
