What are we expecting?

The Bureau of Meteorology advises a complex low pressure system lies to the northeast of Tasmania and is bringing strong west to southwesterly flow over elevated parts of the Great Dividing Range and the Illawarra district this evening, easing during Friday.

For SOUTHERN and CENTRAL RANGES, including the SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible tonight and into early Friday morning.

For parts of the ILLAWARRA COAST: DAMAGING WIND GUSTS in excess of 90 km/h are possible tonight and into early Friday morning.

For NORTHERN RANGES above 1000 metres: Strong winds averaging 50 to 60 km/h with DAMAGING WIND GUSTS of around 90 km/h are possible tonight and into early Friday morning.

Winds are expected to ease about the Southern and Central Tablelands and Illawarra early Friday morning, and about the remainder of the warning area by late Friday morning.

This event may change quickly. NSW SES will monitor the situation and update warnings if the situation changes.
